My love of photography started 25 years ago at the age of 14 when I used to go to the cinemas with my mother. I would see the 'single still image' within the motion picture; amazed at the colors, control of perspective, tone and the resulting emotional image. When I received my first real camera at the age of 17, my love and passion for photography began.
I worked in the motion picture industry as a camera assistant and operator, honing my craft and learning more about lighting and composition. My life has been dedicated to self training and learning from masters of the craft. My interest in creative still photography and especially the black & white image grew. My work was taking a direction towards basic elements of texture, composition and light, exploring the simplest nuances of a flower, a neck or shoulder. I wanted my pictures to 'get inside' the subject and evoke an emotion. I find my landscapes are simple, or clean and tightly composed searching for basic elements in nature.
I work primarily with film, but have incorporated some digital technology into my work. I implement both a traditional and digital darkroom using medium format and large format films to get the desired results depending on the image.
